Global Activity Codes do not export to Microsoft Project
Status: Reviewed
Version(s): 3.5, 3.5.1, 4.0, 4.1, 5.0, 6.0, 6.1, 6.2, 6.2.1

Problem: Global Activity Codes do not export to Microsoft Project.
Fix: This is by design.  The project level activity codes will be exported as Microsoft Outline Codes.

Workaround:

Create a User-defined text field for each of the global activity codes that you want exported to MPP.

Use global change to populate the User-defined text fields.

For example: Then Responsibility – MSP = Responsibility

Modify the MS Project Export Template. On the Custom Field Mappings tab, change the selected Subject Area to Activity then select the user-defined field to be mapped to a MSP text field. If you are putting the PM activity ID in a MSP text field (see Activity tab in Modify Template), do not use that text field for custom field mappings as well – the activity IDs will take precedence.

Results in MS Project
